With the number of celebrities who are dipping their toes into the NFT space, it comes as no surprise that NBA legend Scottie Pippen has announced that he will be launching a new web3 project that leverages his image, based on the Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Artbitrum.
Pippen Joins the Metaverse
This new project is part of a partnership that Pippen has inked with Smolverse, a fantasy role-playing game. The player took to Twitter the share the news, posting a pixelated image of himself that is now a part of the Smolverse ecosystem.
“Got my first custom NFT made for me thanks to @smolverse. I need some more good NFT projects to check out,” the six-time NBA championship winner said.

With this, Pippen joins other athletes such as Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, and Eintracht Frankfurt who have gotten involved with the Smolverse project. He also joins other basketball players such as Steph Curry who has joined NFTs as a whole.
The last few years have seen both individual collections from players and entire NFT marketplaces such as NBA Top Shots being launched to great success. Clearly, there is a lot of demand for these sorts of assets from fans and it seems that Pippen’s NFT journey is just getting started.
