Today we are going to the Black Sea region with you, one of the seven geographical regions of Turkey, named after the Black Sea. Well, now let’s talk about it. The first thing that comes to mind when the Black Sea is mentioned is, of course, a green world.
All our cities in the Black Sea region are magnificent, with their unique plateaus and many wonders of the world that seem like they came out of fairy tales.
And our first stop is Trabzon

The second largest city in the Black Sea region after Samsun is Trabzon. First of all, I definitely don’t know how to describe this city, words are not enough to describe it.
It hosts local and foreign tourists, regardless of winter or summer, with its highlands where you can see every shade of green, its deep-rooted history, and its monasteries where you can feel that history until the end.
Anyway, let’s continue with the Sumele Monastery that comes to mind because we call it a monastery then.

Undoubtedly, the Sumele Monastery, which has become the symbol of Trabzon, is the most striking among the historical monuments.
Sümele Monastery is located within the borders of Altındere valley in the Maçka district of Trabzon. It is a Greek Orthodox monastery and church complex located at an altitude of about 300 meters from the valley. It is rumored that it was founded by two priests, Barnabas and Sophranios, who came from Athens during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Theodosius I (375-395), and its mysterious history is quite remarkable.
Her full name is Panagia Soumela (Mary of Sumela) or Theotokos Soumela, but she is known as the “Virgin Mary”. Sümele Monastery is also located in Altındere National Park, so Sümele Monastery and its surroundings are among the must-see places for those who love to be intertwined with nature.
The monastery, seen adjacent to the mountain, is the cultural heritage of Anatolia.
Now let’s go to a place that will make you feel like a dream.

Uzungol is a landslide-set lake. It is located in the Uzungöl District of Çaykara district. It was formed by the rocks falling from the slopes, blocking the Haldizen creek.
Having a really perfect appearance, but it makes us sad that there are more foreigners than Turks here lately. When we are talking about Trabzon, we should definitely talk about a plateau. So let me share with you the one that interests me the most.

Undoubtedly It is one of the most beautiful plateaus of Trabzon, which must be seen according to my opinion. Hıdırnebi Plateau, which is one of the most interesting places in highland tourism, has many accommodation possibilities such as: Hotels, wooden highland houses.
In addition, the plateau, which attracts people with its clean air and is thought to be good for respiratory diseases, gathers its visitors with festivals held in July every year.
In conclusion, if you are visiting turkey so Trabzon is truly a city that will never disappoint, with its breathtaking natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique landmarks such as the Sümele Monastery, Uzungöl, and Hıdırnebi Plateaus that cannot be explained.
